Thumbs up A new GvG Tournament, in January !

We are pleased to announce the launch of the winter 2011 Mondes Guild Wars Tournament !

This tournament is open to french guilds, and international guilds in which at least one player is french or speaks french.

As seen in the rules, even if your guild doesn't have up to 8 players, you will still be able to participate !

The tournament, based on swiss system, as in MAT, will be held in two phases :
1/ Rankings : from January 17 to January 30, 2011
2/ Eliminations : from january 31 to February 6, 2011

Registrations to the tournament will be open from December 20 to January 10.

Halls of guilds will be changed at fixed timeframe, and will be given after registrations.

What could you win ?
Small things, as the tournament is mainly organized for the sole pleasure of the encounters, not to make nababs out of you ! We have wedding costums, t shirts, and some other littles things to reward the winners.

Do not hesitate to register even if you think you wont be enough, you always gonna find some guests for you to fulfill a team, and be as much people as possible, the larger the greatest !

The news on Mondes Guild Wars Fansite
(go read that for know how to register!)

Unless there's a large concentration of French GvG'ers left, you'll be hard pressed to get a proper tournament going with a restriction like that. Or maybe I'm wrong, either way, GL.

Rules say you only have to have one player on the team who speaks French. That covers a lot of territory world wise.

I'm just gonna ask. Why the frenchie restriction?

Good luck nonetheless.

I had 2 choices : tournament only for french and people whith french native language and you never hear about this tournament.
Or try to open more than that this event, choice I have done. I'm sorry if some guilds are interst and cant participe, but it's better than the first choice, is'nt it?

Sounds interesting , however i will put my little critic : we know already [FuN] guild is going to win it or ...?
I mean , there should be , like someone suggested , " pro" tournament and " medium" tournament . Otherwise , it makes not much sense , you take french guilds who are usually on top20 MAT and they will form top3 of this tourney ....

U have rules write in english, right?^^ And they pretty clear as far as i can see.
Maybe it's possible to ask some ur friends, or people from this forum who can speak both english and french to help u coordinate tournament? Honestly don't see the need in french guild members. Sorry for bad english =)

The problem is not, make a winner, and play only for have a winner (and yes, only good guilds, and guilds that have good reasults at MAT can win a tournament, although you can have surprises)

With events like this one, I try to make that people know others better.
It's an opportunity for guilds that never fight against really good guilds, to fight them and discuss with, about how to play, and so...
An occasion to learn a little, because it's not a MAT with only a purpose : a cape, and dont care about others.
It's an occasion to play, so test builds, discuss, fight others, and yes after for some guild, win, but not the most important.

Yes , but however the point is to make a lot of guilds come. Most won't even show up if they know from start who will win it. That's why , maybe making worth opponent fights could be nice . Doing like r40 vs r50 , r60 vs r20 and r200 vs 500 , 1500 vs 1200 etc could be better than making r40 vs 1000, r20 vs 1500 , and then all less exped are out after 1 fight ....

This sets up an unbalanced finals bracket, you can still have a losers bracket for other prizes, but you want the best guilds playing against each other in the important games, similiar to the structure of the American NCAA Basketball tournament bracketing structure.
